What’s the purpose

A ‘Value Proposition Tagline’ is a short statement that summarises the main value that your product or service delivers to the user. Once defined, it provides you with a quick and impactful way to explain how a user will benefit from your solution.

How to do it

  1. Make a note of the product or service that you are focusing on. Name your solution.
  2. Each person then selects a block in step two of the template and uses the prompts to create their own value proposition tagline for the solution.
  3. Once everyone is done, discuss each version and agree on a final Value Proposition Tagline for your product or service in step three.

Helpful tips

  • If you already have a Value Proposition Tagline and you want to redefine it, use this template as a clean slate to design it from scratch, or capture the current version at the top of the template and use the prompts to help you tweak it.
  • If you want to work on this alone, you can create multiple different versions of the tagline in step two and then decide how you can best combine them to create a final version that feels right!

Using this method in your day-to-day work

Marketing is all about capturing people’s attention and standing out amongst the noise. When trying to sell ideas to your employers or co-workers, this template can help you capture the essence of your solution’s value in one punchy sentence. Try using it to make a solid first impression as you present your thinking to others.
